Brevo pricing explained: plans, contact caps, and the auto-upgrade rule

What each Brevo plan includes, the limits that are easy to miss, and a checker for which limit you would hit first.

Published Prices and limits checked against Brevo's help center on 18 September 2026

Short answer: Brevo's help center lists five plans: Free ($0, 300 emails/day), Starter (from $9/month), Standard (from $18/month), Professional (from $499/month), and Enterprise (custom). The starting price buys 5,000 emails/month (150,000 on Professional), and the price rises with volume. The rule most people miss: on the first three Starter and Standard tiers, the email volume you choose also caps how many contacts you can store (500, 1,500, or 2,500), and Brevo automatically moves you to the next tier when you exceed it.

Regional prices differ. Viewed from Europe on the same day, Brevo's public pricing page showed Starter at €7 and Standard at €15 per month (monthly billing) with a 10% discount for yearly billing, while the help center lists $9 and $18. Brevo's price for a specific volume tier is only shown inside its pricing page slider, so check it for your region and volume.

The Free plan's real limits

"Up to 100,000 contacts" is the headline, but the limit that shapes what you can do is the daily send cap. From Brevo's Free plan FAQ:

Worked example: a 2,400-contact newsletter on the Free plan takes eight consecutive days of manual requeues to reach everyone. That is workable for a personal list and unworkable for a time-sensitive announcement.

Starter and Standard: the email tier also caps your contacts

On paid plans you choose a monthly email volume. Brevo's documentation shows that on Starter and Standard, that choice also sets how many contacts you may store:

Monthly email sends Contacts stored (Starter and Standard)
5,000 Up to 500
10,000 Up to 1,500
15,000 Up to 2,500
20,000 to 100,000 (Starter) / 20,000 to 500,000 (Standard) Up to 500,000

The consequence is that the "$9/month" Starter plan is a 500-contact plan. If you have 1,200 contacts and send one newsletter a month (1,200 emails), you still need the 10,000-email tier, because it is the smallest tier whose contact cap fits your list.

The automatic upgrade rule

Brevo's FAQ describes what happens when you pass the cap:

"If you are on one of the first three tiers of the Starter or Standard plans, with limits set at 500, 1,500, and 2,500 contacts respectively, you will receive warning notifications as you approach your contact limit … If you reach or exceed that limit, we will automatically upgrade your plan to the next tier." Its example: reaching 1,501 contacts on the 1,500 tier moves you to the 2,500-contact tier, and "the cost of your subscription will increase accordingly."

So the bill can go up without you choosing a new plan. Brevo does send warnings first, and the tiers above 2,500 contacts (20,000+ emails) allow up to 500,000 contacts, so the automatic steps stop there.

Which Brevo limit would you hit first?

Uses only the tier tables and daily limits quoted above. It does not estimate prices, because Brevo publishes per-tier prices only inside its pricing page.

Frequently asked questions

Does Brevo charge per contact or per email?

Per email volume, but with contact caps attached to the lower tiers. You pick a monthly email volume; on the first three Starter and Standard tiers that volume also limits stored contacts to 500, 1,500, or 2,500.

Is there a daily limit on paid plans?

Brevo states the Starter plan "includes no daily sending limit"; the 300/day cap applies to Free only.

Do unused emails roll over?

On Free, no: "Unused email sends don't carry over to the next day." Brevo's documentation does not state a rollover rule for paid monthly volumes; check your account.

Is the Brevo free plan limited in time?

No. "The Free plan has no time limit."
